If You’re Paying More Than $500 Per Vote, There Are More Effective Starting Points

Our voter registration programs deliver more votes for less dollars spent, and stretch the budget of your other outreach methods.

Overview

Campaigns are expensive. Yet, some orgs are out here charging luxury car prices for a single Democratic vote. That’s no exaggeration, we’ve seen programs that cost over $35,000 per net vote gained. That’s crazy, and so are you if you pay that much.

With every dollar getting chewed up by staff, ads, events, etc., you should be asking how to get the most out of every dollar.

Now that we’ve run our trials, we can confirm: Civitech is the best bang for your buck.

Campaign Budget Philosophy 101

Other orgs may try to get you to spend your entire voter registration budget with them.

Firstly, don’t do that. With anyone. Even us.

Our registration programs are most effective when multiple touchpoints are working together at the same time. Rather than being the bulk of your budget, our programs should supplement your spend. Consider us a multiplier. When you plug in our programs, the rest of your budget starts working harder.

Efficiency in the Household

Another side test we ran was around whether our programs have any sway on members of a household that we didn’t target. In other words, for households with multiple individuals where we only targeted one, we wanted to know if we swayed the other people in that household. We call this “buddy spillover.”

As you might expect, we probably wouldn’t have brought it up if we didn’t find something interesting.

Our treatment did exactly what we hoped it would. It turns out, if you reach out to one member of a household, it inspires action in the rest. This is extremely important information when it comes to improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of campaigns, because it means we have to reach out to far fewer folks to make measurable impact.

The $100,000 Example

Let’s say your budget is $100,000. If you spend all of it on one tactic, you are missing out on the value of diversifying your efforts.

Instead, even 10% of your budget can go to voter registration programs like ours. That way, the more robust and well-rounded the campaign, the more each dollar will be worth when Civitech’s registration solutions are employed alongside them.

Our programs work so well because they aren’t the only thing campaigns are doing. Potential voters first get a custom mailer or postcard with your face on it and clear steps to register and vote. Then when they see your ads, meet your canvassers, or read your newsletters, they already know you. They already like you. We just help them take that final step to the ballot box.

The End of the 2024 Post-RCT
Civitech Story

Here’s how our RCTs went: we tested our stuff, we proved it works, and we did it cheaper than just about anyone else out there.

Nearly 40,000 Democratic votes weren’t just “influenced” by us, they exist because of us.

No vanity metrics. We made these votes happen, and we did it at the lowest cost we could.

Every program we ran in 2024 stretched budgets further, proved itself with RCTs, and left no doubt. This is the future of voter registration.
